February 10, 2001: A wake-up call for mankind
Dear Readers:
It was heart breaking to read and see on television the enormous human tragedy that has unfolded in the aftermath of the killer earthquake. Natural disasters like these cannot be explained at all! One of the most important lessons we learn from disasters such as this one is the sense of sacrifice, and a different way of looking at our brothers and sisters who have stepped up to help despite difference in caste, creed and religion.
Nations fight against nations, people kill people, religious fanatics promote hate against other religions but whenever Mother Nature has her say in such a devastating manner nations forget their hostility, people forget their animosity and religions and become one global family and rush to help fellow human beings.
Then why do we need wars between nations? Why all these killing amongst fellow humans? Why all this hatred over religions? Isn’t this calamity large enough to open the eyes of all humans and alert them to scale down on weapons of mess destruction, to stop all wars and live in peace as one global family. There cannot be a more stark message to the leaders of all nations to arise, awake and live in peace as human life is too precious to loose.
This is the super natural’s way of reminding us of our purpose on this earth. Human kind needs to wake up to the fact that we came into this world with empty hands and we will leave with empty hands. Unknown dangers are always lurking around the corner. We do not need to generate more.
Sincerely,
