Newark, NJ: A businessmen from the city, who had settled in the US, was stabbed to death by two masked robbers in his store in Newark on November 3.
Hemant Chauhan, 58, was a resident of Shanti- niketan Society of Sumul Dairy road in the city. He had taken over the store over a year ago after working in motels till recently. Hemant had migrated to the US in 2001.
Newark state police said a man walked into the store named Newport Penn Bantam Market at 418 Newport-Gap Pike around 7:15 p.m. on November 2 and jumped the counter and demanded cash from Chauhan.
After a brief argument, the miscreant and his accomplice stabbed the victim and ran away with some money.
Chauhan was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Hemant’s wife Bhumika was also in the store.
