Now, MP Kanyadan Yojna has Rs. 15,000 to offer

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has increased per marriage amount to Rs. 15,000 under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna.

Earlier, the per marriage assistance amount sanctioned was Rs. 10,000.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said Mahila Arthik Vitt Evam Vikas Nigam and women’s self-help groups would also be strengthened to make women economically self-reliant.

Chouhan had launched the state-wide program in April 2006 by solemnizing marriages of 251 girls at village Sijhora in Mandla district. In the initial year of the scheme 2006-07, in all 13,498 girls tied knot through 286 mass marriage functions.

Under the scheme, financial assistance and utility gift items are provided to the newly-wedded couples. Widows and divorcee are also being benefited under the scheme.
