Koodankulam: PMANE pitches for speedy submission of white paper

Tirunelveli: The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE)  has said that it would lay a siege to Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project, the Thoothukudi Port and the Poompuhar Shipping Corporation boat services in Kanyakumari if a white paper on Koodankulam plant was not released immediately.

After a meeting of like-minded parties that had been supporting the anti-nuclear campaign and the representatives of PMANE at Indinthakarai village on February 3, PMANE coordinator S.P. Udayakumar announced the agitation.

“We have extended the deadline for releasing the white paper on Koodankulam plant by 15 days. If the whiter paper is not released within another 15 days, we will lay a siege to the Koodankulam plant by sea. Similarly, people in Thoothukudi will lay siege to the Thoothukudi harbor and people in Kanyakumari will lay siege to Poompuhar Shipping Corporation boat services in Kanyakumari. In this regard, we have already discussed with community leaders,” Udayakumar said.

He added that Department of Atomic Energy and the state and Central governments should make known what was going on in Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP).
