Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet on February 5 approved setting up of 20 fast-track courts for speedy trial of cases of heinous crimes against women. It also gave nod to the creation of 20 additional posts of Superior Judicial Services along with supporting staff to provide immediate justice to women.
The meeting, which was presided over by CM Parkash Singh Badal, also okayed creation of six posts of DSP, 36 posts of inspector, 415 posts of women sub-inspector and 400 posts of women constable in the state police to control crime against women. The proposal will put an additional annual burden of Rs 18.04 crore on the state exchequer.
