Sadhu Singh Rikhiraj honored
Chicago: Sadhu Singh Rikhiraj, an engineer and immediate past president of Sikh Religious Society, received the prestigious Community Service Award from American Council of Engineering Companies -IL (ACEC). The award recognizes outstanding individuals from the engineering community who have shown leadership in their communities.
Singh accepted the award on June 12, at the annual conference and gala held in Springfield. ACEC selects those individuals, who have been active in improving the quality of life in their communities. The award acknowledges Singh’s community leadership demonstrated by his sustained commitment for more than six years to the Sikh Religious Society (SRS) in Palatine, Illinois.
While Singh served as executive secretary of SRS, he was responsible for its executive functions, including all communication to members and non-members regarding the its activities.
As the project manager for the society’s capital improvement program, he led a team of engineers, architects and contractors to complete the project while at the same time addressing the needs of members and non-members, who offered many suggestions.
As president of SRS, Singh, represented its interests to a broad scope of people. He was in constant interaction with other organizations, members and public officials in his efforts to insure the smooth and efficient operation of SRS.
Singh is the owner and president of Singh & Associates, Inc. He holds a BS degree in civil engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada. He graduated with a diploma in civil engineering from Thapar Polytechnic, Patiala, India, in the top 10 in Punjab State after finishing high school from Khalsa High School, Moga, with a top position in his class.
